I have a complicated thyroid problem. I'm currently 33wks4d and as I get ready for labor and delivery, I'm faced with a tough decision post-partum. I get that no one here is a doctor, but maybe you all have some insight or resources??

Did anyone else have trouble hearing the heartbeat at 12 weeks? My doctor couldn't find it today with the Doppler thingy; She wasn't worried so I know I shouldn't be but I am. Sweet. So I got a piece of paper in the mail thats telling me I have hyperthyroidism and I need to do more blood tests. Along with that paper, I got a bill for $750 for 3 blood tests, el oh el. I have state insurance and everything so far (including my sons birth) has been free. Hopefully the payment plans can be done at like $10 a month :P ( Read more... )

So the doc just called with some of my lab results, and my THS levels were at 6.990 - where the nomal range should be in between 0.450 and 4.50, I've done some reading and have become a little worried about this because studies show it decreased the baby's ability to properly learn and develop. I had a regular OB appointment today. He said everything looks normal and I've gained 6 pounds so far. I'm 19 weeks today. I was hoping for more, but my doctor was actually quite please with my weight gain so far, especially since I have such a problem gaining weight to begin with. Had my second Ob appointment today. Apparently from my bloodwork we found out I have hypothyroidism again. So she perscribed me meds for that. But everything else looked great. She wants to see me again in a week to see how I'm doing. I love my doctor:)

I'm 8 weeks today and my doctor's office just called and said my TSH was high (5.02) and they're starting me on synthroid (100mcg/day). It looks like there's some controversy regarding what is actually normal for TSH, with some sites saying 5.0 is the upper limit of normal and other places saying it should be 2.5 or 3.
